The Kosmos-482 spacecraft descended from orbit and fell into the waters of the Indian Ocean. This was announced on May 10 by the Roscosmos State Corporation.

"The Kosmos-482 spacecraft, launched in 1972, ceased to exist, having descended from orbit and fallen into the Indian Ocean," the Telegram channel says.

According to Roscosmos, the spacecraft entered the dense layers of the atmosphere at 09:24 Moscow time, approximately 560 km west of the island of Sredny Andaman. The convergence was monitored by means of an Automated Warning System for Dangerous Situations in near-Earth Space.

The Kosmos-482 spacecraft was launched to explore Venus, but due to a malfunction of the upper stage, it remained in a high elliptical orbit around the Earth. Since then, he has been gradually approaching the planet.

On April 20, Nathan Eismont, a leading researcher at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, announced that the Soviet space station Kosmos-482 would enter the Earth's atmosphere and almost completely burn up, the remnants of the device are not dangerous. However, according to him, some structural elements can actually reach the surface of the planet.
