A new package of anti-Russian sanctions may be introduced within a few days if Moscow does not accept Kiev's conditions for a 30-day truce. This was stated on May 10 by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with LCI TV channel.

"For us, these are the coming days when we should be able to introduce a new package of sanctions," he stressed.

Macron said the new sanctions would be "much tougher" for the Russian economy and should act as a deterrent. At the same time, he noted that he was ready to facilitate direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump called on Russia and Ukraine to accept a 30-day truce. According to him, the US administration, together with its partners, will impose sanctions if this initiative is not agreed upon. He noted that he hopes that the ceasefire will be respected by both sides.

On April 25, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said that anti-Russian sanctions had not hindered Russia's economic development. He noted that the Russian economy has grown by 4.1% over the past two years.
