Karymsky volcano in Kamchatka has released ash, raising it to an altitude of 3.5 km above sea level. This was announced on May 10 by the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the website.

"The moderate explosivity of the volcano continues. KVERT satellite data shows that an ash cloud measuring 10x15 km is moving about 21 km southeast of the volcano," the publication says.

According to the response team, the volcano's activity poses a danger to local air travel.

The height of Karymsky is 1,468 m above sea level, and the distance to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is about 140 km.

On April 21, an eruption of the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano was recorded in Kamchatka. The glow lasted for several minutes.
