The Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam announced plans to sign more than 20 agreements with the Russian Federation.

Toh Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, said he plans to sign more than 20 agreements with Russia during his visit to Moscow. He announced this on May 10 at a meeting with students at the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).

"The members of the delegation and I are pleased to note that more than 20 agreements are expected to be signed during my visit," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Lam noted that strengthening the effectiveness of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Russia remains one of the priorities in Hanoi's foreign policy. According to the Secretary General, this meets the long-term interests of both countries.

He added that Russia and Vietnam are actively increasing cooperation in the fields of defense and energy. At the meeting, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin noted that last year the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 20% and reached $ 6 billion.

The Secretary General stressed that Hanoi and Moscow are united by the spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood, and they will continue to "walk shoulder to shoulder on the path to prosperity." According to him, Vietnam does not intend to abandon its strategic partnership with Russia.

On May 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia and Vietnam intend to work together to create a modern architecture of equal security in the Asia-Pacific region (APR). He added that Moscow and Hanoi continue practical cooperation, despite the difficult international situation and anti-Russian sanctions from the United States and other countries.

On April 6, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko noted the high value of relations with Hanoi for Moscow during a meeting with Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man. In addition, she spoke about the steady growth of mutual trade between Russia and Vietnam, as well as the development of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
