The world has a responsibility to ensure that Nazism never returns. This was announced by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at a briefing on May 10.

"Victory Day is widely celebrated throughout Russia. We must all be responsible for ensuring that such an evil as Nazism never appears on our planet again," he said at a briefing broadcast on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

He added that European countries, including France and Germany, should have attended the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow and respected Russia's contribution to the destruction of Nazism. The politician noted that European countries and their allies are "getting back on the war footing" and increasing the pace of rearmament. He called it "madness."

The Brazilian President said that the country will continue dialogue with all parties who want to achieve a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

On May 7, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said that Nazism was being revived in Europe, and the number of its supporters was also increasing there.

On April 30, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, stressed that the BRICS countries should speak out against the glorification of Nazi criminals, as well as defend the historical truth. Shoigu said that Europe had forgotten to whom they owed their liberation from fascism.

A day earlier, the foreign ministers of the BRICS countries expressed hope for achieving a sustainable peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. In addition, the foreign ministers called for the restoration of arms control, as well as strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation regime.
