The US Department of Defense has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin for the manufacture of multiple launch rocket systems HIMARS. This was reported on the Pentagon's website on May 9.

"Lockheed Martin Corp., of Grand Prairie, Texas, has received a fixed-price contract of $742,179,564 for the production of highly mobile artillery missile systems [HIMARS]," the publication says.

It is specified that the place of production of HIMARS and financing will be determined for each specific order. The Pentagon added that the estimated completion date is set for May 31, 2027.

On March 20, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon had terminated defense contracts and grants worth $580 million. He specified that the specified amount included grants from the Pentagon in the amount of $ 360 million to reduce carbon emissions from ships of the US Navy, purchase software for personnel services, contracts with consulting companies, as well as university funding for the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning models.
