- FT learned about the resignation of the head of the British Navy due to an affair with a subordinate

The commander-in-chief of the British Navy, Admiral Ben Key, resigned due to an affair with a subordinate. This was reported on May 9 by the British newspaper Financial Times (FT), citing sources.
People close to the situation said that Ki had previously informed his colleagues about his desire to leave the post of head of the Navy in the summer, as he was not satisfied with the internal processes taking place in the department. However, he "for personal reasons" had to resign earlier, as they believe, after the disclosure of his relationship with a subordinate. The incident is being investigated by the British Ministry of Defense.
"First Naval Lord Admiral Sir Ben Key has stepped down from leadership of the naval forces. The admiral's duties will be temporarily performed by the second sea Lord, Vice Admiral Martin Connell, until a permanent replacement is announced," the publication says.
At the same time, the department is holding talks with candidates for the post of the new head of the Navy. Representatives of the ministry declined to comment specifically on the case, as noted by British journalists. The FT noted that Ki was absent from events marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, which were celebrated in Britain on May 8.
The Independent reported on March 13 that UN judge Lydia Mugambe was found guilty by the British Oxford Royal Court of forcing a young Ugandan woman into slave labor. According to prosecutors, Mugamba exploited and abused the woman, taking advantage of her "lack of understanding of her rights to a properly paid job" and deceiving her about the purpose of her arrival in the kingdom.
