Cases have become more frequent when fraudsters steal personal data and money through a remote access application, which is previously "advertised" to the victim as the official application of clinics or management companies (CC). This was reported to TASS on May 10 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

So, for persuasiveness, fraudsters during a conversation introduce themselves as employees of polyclinics, the Criminal Code, Rosfinmonitoring, the Gosuslugi portal or the police. Then they impose a remote-controlled application on the potential victim, passing it off as official, in order to gain full access to the person's gadget in the future.

The Interior Ministry recalled that law enforcement officers, administrative staff and medical staff do not send messages and emails asking them to install the application on a mobile device.

On May 7, the Russian Interior Ministry warned Russians that fraudsters had begun to deceive sellers on digital ad platforms. So, after placing an ad, the user receives a message from a "buyer" who persuades them to send a photo of the product in the messenger under the pretext that the picture does not load in the application. This is done to bypass the security systems built into popular applications and ensure additional anonymity.
