The leaders of the four EU countries went to Kiev for talks on Ukraine


German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer headed to Kiev for talks. The French leader announced this on May 10.
Macron is on his personal social network account X (ex. Twitter) in four languages: French, English, German and Polish, wrote "On the way to Kiev. For Ukraine. For Europe." He also posted a photo of EU leaders at the negotiating table.
According to the Welt newspaper, the leaders of the states plan to meet in Kiev with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to discuss new measures to support the Kiev regime.
"Together with the United States, we call on Russia to agree on a complete and unconditional 30-day cease—fire in order to create space for negotiations on a just and lasting peace," the statement of the leaders of the European states, which is quoted in the newspaper.
The publication clarified that within the framework of this visit by EU leaders, Ukraine will be given a guarantee of military assistance.
The new German Chancellor Merz has already met with French President Macron on May 7. In addition to discussing the bilateral cooperation between the states involved in the so-called "reset" of international relations, Merz announced Germany's intention to provide Ukraine with reliable security guarantees.
