The media reported a small earthquake in Virginia due to a Metallica concert

A concert by the American band Metallica in Virginia triggered a small earthquake. This was announced on May 8 by the Fox television channel.
"It was the first time that the rock band Metallica performed at Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech University. The crowd jumped so much that, according to the seismological observatory of the educational institution, small tremors were registered," the TV channel's website says.
It is specified that about 60 thousand fans attended the concert. However, the force of the tremors was not enough to measure them on the Richter scale. For the students and fans of the Technological University, the band's performance was an important event, as their football team has been playing the Enter Sandman song for 25 years, the publication noted.
In 2024, a show by American singer Taylor Swift caused several earthquakes. The last time was in Scotland, when about 70,000 fans gathered at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. A similar situation was observed at concerts in Cielta and Los Angeles, where fans caused earthquakes of up to 2.3 magnitude.
