The state Corporation Rosatom may offer Brazil large-scale cooperation in the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant (NPP). This was announced on May 9 by Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.

A conversation on cooperation on the supply of nuclear power units was held today as part of talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Brazilian leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

"The Brazilian side was particularly interested, and this was expressed by both Lula and members of the government, in the topic of small nuclear power plants, both land-based and floating. And here we have the opportunity to offer Brazilians a very large—scale cooperation, since the hulls of floating nuclear power plants can be produced directly by Brazilian enterprises," Likhachev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Vladimir Putin, during talks with his Brazilian counterpart on May 9, noted that relations between Russia and Brazil are developing steadily. Contacts are regularly maintained at a high level, while bilateral trade is developing between the countries.
