Residents of Odessa laid flowers at the monument of the Unknown Sailor on Victory Day, despite the official renaming of this day in Ukraine to "Europe Day". This was reported on May 9 by the newspaper "Страна.иа ".

"In Odessa today, people went to lay flowers at the monument to the Unknown Sailor. The monument is cordoned off by the police and the National Guard, residents of Odessa are allowed to visit it only after mandatory verification of documents," the Telegram channel says.

The publication writes that by 15:00 Moscow time, the foot of the monument was already covered with a large layer of flowers, adds "Газета.Ru ".

Earlier that day, a pensioner who came to lay flowers in a Soviet cap was detained near the Eternal Flame in Kiev. It was noted that she was told that the red star should be removed from her cap, as this is a prohibited symbolism. However, the woman refused.
