Polyansky spoke about Russia's position on rethinking the role of the UN

Russia has its own ideas about what a renewed United Nations (UN) should look like. Moscow is also ready to hold discussions with all delegations on this topic. This was stated on May 9 by Dmitry Polyansky, first Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian mission to the United Nations, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"We are convinced that not only the Secretary General and his team, but also all its members have their own ideas about what a renewed world organization should be like. We have them too. We are ready for constructive discussions on this topic with all delegations on a mutually respectful basis," he said.
Polyansky said that Russia had heard about proposals from Washington related to the development of proposals for optimizing the world organization. According to him, it is necessary to wait for the details.
On May 2, it was reported that the UN was considering a large-scale reform of the organization due to a reduction in financial assistance from the United States and other countries. It clarifies that it involves the unification of dozens of UN agencies into four main departments — "peace and security", "humanitarian affairs", "sustainable development" and "human rights".
