- The MEP called Fico's presence at the Victory Day Parade important for dialogue with the Russian Federation.

The presence of Prime Minister Robert Fico at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow is an opportunity to start a dialogue with Russia to find a way to peace, negotiations, and cooperation. On May 9, Slovak MEP Lubos Blaga told Izvestia about this.
"You know, we can't fight each other forever. And this escalation is very, very dangerous," he said.
He also noted that he has three children at home. And he would not want to send them to the territory of armed conflict in the future. That is why, in his opinion, it is necessary to achieve a de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine.
"That's why the presence of Robert Fico, Prime Minister of Slovakia, here in Moscow is very, very important," he said.
In his opinion, Russia has "excellent relations" with the Chinese, Indians, Brazilians, South Africans, with Africa, Latin America, Asia, with the whole world, and even with the United States. He believes that if anyone is isolated, it is the European Union.
More than 25 foreign leaders, as well as military personnel from Russia-friendly countries and foreign delegations attended the parade on Red Square. At the end of the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the foreign delegations at the reception for coming to the capital of the Russian Federation for the celebrations.
The Slovak newspaper Pravda reported on May 7 that a special aircraft of the Slovak government with Prime Minister Fico on board was banned from flying over the territories of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia for the participation of the Slovak delegation in the celebration of Victory Day in Moscow. The Latvian Foreign Ministry explained that participation in the Kremlin's May 9 event is incompatible with the fundamental values of the European Union.
