- Fico pointed out that Callas did not have the authority to criticize his visit to Moscow.

On May 9, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, had no authority to criticize his visit to Moscow for the parade in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
"As a senior official of the European Commission, you have absolutely no authority to criticize the sovereign prime minister of a sovereign country who is constructively approaching all European agendas," Fico wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
According to him, he is in the capital of the Russian Federation to pay tribute to more than 60 thousand soldiers of the Red Army who died during the liberation of Slovakia. In addition, the prime minister noted that he does not agree with the policy of the "iron curtain", which Kallas is working on.
Earlier in the day, Callas reported that Fico's arrival in Moscow on the occasion of Victory Day celebrations had caused outrage in the European Union (EU). She noted that Fico "stands on the wrong side of history."
More than 25 foreign leaders, as well as military personnel from Russia-friendly countries and foreign delegations attended the parade on Red Square. At the end of the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the foreign delegations at the reception for coming to the capital of the Russian Federation for the celebrations.
