A minute of silence in memory of the fallen heroes was declared across Russia on the day of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) at 18:55 Moscow time. The live broadcast was shown by the country's federal channels.

The first minute of silence was broadcast in 1965. Since then, the campaign has been held throughout the country every year on May 9 at the same time on TV and radio.

On this day, at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a minute of silence in memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War. He stressed that on this day, everyone bows their heads to their comrades who died bravely in battle for our country.
