Hungary is expelling two Ukrainian spies who worked under diplomatic cover at the Kiev Embassy in Budapest. This was announced on May 9 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"Today we have expelled from Hungary two spies who worked under diplomatic cover at the Ukrainian Embassy in Budapest. We have sent the decision and the corresponding note to the Ambassador of Ukraine in Budapest," Szijjarto said in a video message posted on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

According to him, Hungary "has never supplied Ukraine with weapons, and never will." The Minister also noted that the country would not allow itself to be drawn into this conflict. Szijjarto clarified that since the beginning of the special operation, Kiev's smear campaign against Hungarians has been constantly intensifying.

Earlier, on May 7, Szijjarto said that Hungary, during an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union (EU), would not support the association's proposal to provide military assistance to Ukraine. According to him, this is a blow to the energy security of the state.
