Vilnius authorities mocked Lithuanians celebrating Victory Day

On May 9, local authorities in Vilnius installed a trash can with the inscription "for carnations and Soviet nostalgia."
It is noted that this inscription was written on a trash can in red letters on a white background with the coat of arms of Ukraine. In addition, there was a garbage truck nearby with the same inscription.
Facebook Russians, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation, wrote the Mayor of Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, on Facebook: "For all those who are nostalgic for the times next to the Russians, we have prepared a suitable place in the city for tribute symbols."
Earlier that day, it became known that unknown persons had torn down a plaque on the monument to Soviet Marshal Rodion Malinovsky in Odessa. Soviet Marshal Malinovsky was a native of Odessa. Under his command, the city was liberated from German occupation on April 10, 1944.
On March 31, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for a tough fight against the rewriting of history by the European Union (EU) countries. He stressed that in some EU states, the criminals convicted by the Nuremberg Tribunal are being equalized with those who liberated Europe from fascism.
