The march of the "Immortal Regiment" took place in Sukhum. Izvestia publishes footage from the action on May 9.

Some participants spoke about the heroism of their relatives, with whose portraits they joined the procession. So, local resident Polina Bagatelia shared that she came to the action with a photo of her father's older brother.

"He was an officer. He was injured. After that, he arrived. After that, he started walking again. They didn't want to take him because my father was very young — 12 years old. His father had already died too. After that, he did not return, he went missing," she said.

Sukhumi resident Manana joined the march with four photographs of her uncles.

"These are my uncles, there are four of them, but I don't have one photo. All of them died in the Great Patriotic War. Four siblings," Manana said.

She added that she participates in the action every year and stressed that Abkhazia lost a lot of people during the Second World War.

On May 8, the Immortal Regiment and the Garden of Memory campaign took place on the territory of the Russian Embassy in Washington on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. They were attended by Russian diplomats and their family members, Russian compatriots, as well as representatives of the embassies of the CIS countries and students of the school attached to the diplomatic mission.
