A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Ministry of Defense reported that in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in—Chief of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation, President Vladimir Putin, based on humanitarian considerations, during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory - from 00:00 Moscow time on May 8, groups of the Russian army in the special operation zone continue to strictly observe the ceasefire.

Despite this, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have not stopped fighting against Russian forces — they have made four attempts to break through the state border of the Russian Federation in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

The military department noted that 5,026 violations of the ceasefire regime by Ukrainian militants were recorded.

Under these conditions, the Russian army reacts in a mirror manner to violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and will continue to act appropriately to the prevailing situation, responding to all criminal encroachments by the Kiev regime.

At the same time, before the start of the truce, from May 3 to May 8, the Russian Armed Forces launched six group strikes with precision weapons and drone strikes, as a result of which enterprises of the military-industrial complex (MIC) of Ukraine, the infrastructure of military airfields, armament and ammunition depots, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries.
