Unknown persons tore down a plaque on the monument to Soviet Marshal Rodion Malinovsky in Odessa. This was reported on May 9 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".

"In Odessa at night, unknown masked men tore down a plaque on the monument to Soviet Marshal Malinovsky and filmed it on video," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel of the publication.

The video attached to the message shows two men tearing down the sign.

Soviet Marshal Malinovsky was a native of Odessa. Under his command, the city was liberated from German occupation on April 10, 1944.

On May 7, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov announced that in Sumy, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory, the authorities removed a bas-relief and a stele with the dates of the beginning and end of the Great Patriotic War from a memorial dedicated to Soviet soldiers.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with students of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, said on January 25 that the destruction of monuments abroad is an amazing ignorance with bad consequences. He stressed that, unlike many other countries, Russia preserves its cultural heritage.
