- Veterans who arrived at the Victory Day Parade are greeted by volunteers on Vasilyevsky Descent
Veterans who arrived at the Victory Day parade in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) on May 9 are greeted by volunteers, after which they are escorted further down Vasilyevsky Descent. Izvestia publishes footage from the scene.
The military parade will begin at 10:00. Preparations are currently underway on Red Square for a solemn procession of military personnel and equipment.
Gifts were prepared for the spectators of the parade in the stands — backpacks with the emblem of the "Motherland".
Parades in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War have already been held in the cities of the Far East. Celebrations were held in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Ussuriysk, Nakhodka and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. In Vladivostok, tens of thousands of people took to the streets of the city in order to see the parade and participate in the march of the "Immortal Regiment".
On May 7, Nikolai Alekseevich Tokarev, a veteran from Sevastopol, who had dreamed all his life of seeing the military parade on Red Square with his own eyes, arrived in Moscow to participate in the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The invited veteran and his entourage were met at the train station by volunteers.
