The US Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation against New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is known for her active prosecution of American leader Donald Trump. This was reported on May 8 by The Washington Post, citing a source.
"The US Department of Justice has launched a criminal investigation into real estate transactions involving New York Attorney General Letitia James," the publication said.
It is clarified that the investigation began after the director of the Federal Agency for Housing Finance, William Palt, appointed by the President of the United States, sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi with information about the falsification of bank documents to obtain state financing.
James and some other attorneys general of the American states from the Democratic Party have filed many lawsuits against the administration of the American leader. The Prosecutor General won one of them and received hundreds of millions of dollars for it.
On April 23, a coalition of 12 American states filed lawsuits against the US presidential administration demanding that the duties imposed by it be lifted. It was clarified that the restrictions imposed by Trump have a negative impact on the country's economy. According to James, such measures by the American leader can lead to an increase in inflation and unemployment across the country.
