The area of forest fires in the Republic of Buryatia has increased to 24.7 thousand hectares over the past day. This was reported on May 9 by the Republican Forestry Agency (RALH).
"On the morning of May 9, there are 18 forest fires: in the Bauntovsky and Yeravninsky districts, covering a total area of 24,698 hectares," the agency said in a statement posted on its official Telegram channel.
It is noted that over the past day, six fires were eliminated in the Dzhidinsky, Yeravninsky, Zaigraevsky, Kabansky and Kyakhtinsky districts. 403 people are taking part in extinguishing forest fires, including forest protection officers, representatives of avislesohran and volunteers.
The RALH recalled that a state of emergency (emergency) has been declared in the Bauntovsky Evenki region of the republic. The ministry urged citizens to handle fire more carefully and refrain from visiting forests during the current fire protection regime.
A municipal emergency regime was introduced on May 5 in the Verkhoyansky district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Currently, work is underway in the Verkhoyansky district of Yakutia to eliminate six forest fires with a total area of 6.5 thousand hectares.
