Washington beat Carolina to even the score in the NHL playoff series.

The Washington Capitals hockey Club defeated the Carolina Hurricanes in the second match of the second round of the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs.

The meeting took place at the capital team's home at the Capital One Arena and ended with a score of 3:1. Thus, Washington was able to even the score in the series to 1:1.

Forwards Connor McMichael (23rd minute), Tom Wilson (59th minute) and defender Jock Carlson (42nd minute) scored for the winners. Defender Shane Gostisbeer scored the goal for Carolina (50th).

Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian striker and captain of the capital's HC, spent 14 minutes on the court and was able to land three shots on target.

The next meeting of the teams will be held on May 11, and the Carolina hockey players will host the opponents.

On May 5, all the quarterfinalists of the NHL playoffs became known. The pairs were formed as follows: Toronto Maple Leafs – Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals – Carolina Hurricanes, Winnipeg Jets – Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights - Edmonton Oilers. The current defending champion is the Florida Panthers.
