Servicemen of the 60th separate Motorized Rifle Battalion of the 51st Guards Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District congratulated veterans, home front workers and children of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) living in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on Victory Day. This was announced on May 9 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that the military of the Russian Armed Forces gave gifts to Valentina Golovakina, a resident of besieged Leningrad, and Galina Buryakova, a prisoner of the Auschwitz concentration camp. The servicemen wished them good health and a peaceful sky over their heads, presented them with flowers and modest gifts.

"On my own behalf and on behalf of our soldiers of the 60th separate Guards Motorized Rifle Battalion, I would like to thank you very much for our lives, for the peace that you defended in the 45th year. Our task today, the younger generation, the generation of winners, is to carry this victory and give it to our children and grandchildren. Thanks! Happy Victory Day! I bow low to you!" — a serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces with the call sign Maestro expressed his gratitude and congratulated the veterans.
