- Zakharova pointed out the differences in the statements of the German Foreign Ministry in three languages for Victory Day

The statement of the German Foreign Ministry dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, published on the social network X (ex. Twitter) in three languages, differs depending on the language. This was announced on May 8 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
In a published statement, the German ministry thanks for the liberation from Nazism, but does not name the states that participated in the liberation.
"In French and English, German diplomats also apologize for the Holocaust. And in Russian, only for a certain "civilizational rift," Zakharova said in a Telegram channel message.
In addition, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that such a difference is a "typical Western" practice.
The Berliner Morgenpost newspaper reported on April 25 that the Berlin authorities plan to ban the use of symbols of Russia and the USSR at commemorative events on May 8 and 9, dedicated to Victory Day. According to the decree, the ban will affect Russian, Soviet, and Belarusian flags, the wearing of military uniforms or its elements, military insignia, the display of the letters Z and V, as well as St. George's ribbons.
