Servicemen of the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Vostok group of forces from Sakhalin congratulated Yuri Matveevich Karibov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, on Victory Day and the 100th anniversary. This was announced on May 9 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Today we came to congratulate our veteran, he turned 100 years old. We couldn't pass by without congratulating him, because there were very few of them left. They fought for our Motherland to have a bright sky above their heads," said a soldier of the Russian Armed Forces with the call sign Surgut.

In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, Yuri Matveyevich Karibov celebrated his 100th birthday. He volunteered for the front right after school, when he was 16 years old. Like many others of his peers, he credited himself with a couple of years to be drafted into the army.

In those days, Donetsk was under the occupation of the Nazi invaders. In 1943, he began his service in the Red Army. Karibov bravely fought the enemy and was awarded the Orders of the Great Patriotic War II degree and Zhukov.

Servicemen of the 40th Separate Guards Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) as part of the North group of forces in the Belovsky district of the Kursk region congratulated veterans, home front workers and war children on the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
