Representatives of the Popular Front, as part of the "Fire of Memory" campaign in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, delivered to Venezuela a piece of Eternal Flame from the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden.

Torches with this flame were lit in the National Pantheon, where the remains of national heroes of the republic, including the liberator of the country Simon Bolivar, rest. For the first time, torches were entrusted to a representative of another state, who became a member of the Central Staff of the Popular Front, Doctor of Medicine Pavel Berezhansky.

"I am very pleased to see how Venezuela honors the memory of its heroes. This is what binds us together. In Russia, they also remember their heroes. That's why we brought a piece of Eternal Flame here, to the National Pantheon," he said.

Eduard Sokolov, Charge d'affaires of Russia in Venezuela, noted that there is a lot of symbolism in the "Fire of Memory" campaign. He saw how the high-ranking guests of the ceremony were surprised and sincerely satisfied that a piece of Eternal Flame had been delivered to Caracas and was now igniting with its warmth and light everything that is dear to Venezuelans.

"It is a symbol of friendship, solidarity and the struggle against fascism. This is a symbol of the deep ties that exist between our countries," said Eduard Sokolov, Charge d'affaires of Russia in Venezuela.

The participants of the ceremony also laid a wreath at the grave of Simon Bolivar.

Jesus Faria, deputy chairman of the Russia–Venezuela Friendship parliamentary group, said that the particle of Eternal Flame for Venezuelans is a symbol of the sacrifice of the Soviet people, which he made so that the whole world could live without Nazism.

A piece of Eternal Flame from the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow was brought to Berlin on May 8. Alexander Gertner, a participant in the action, stressed that they feel the importance of preserving memory and the inadmissibility of rewriting history. Russian Russians are called Germans, but they remain Russians at heart and will fight for the truth.
