On May 8, US President Donald Trump admitted that he might ask China to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

"Of course. I think it would be quite natural to ask for this," Trump said, answering a question from reporters.

In addition, the American leader also noted that the United States is making "good progress" on this settlement.

Trump's Special Envoy Keith Kellogg said on May 6 that the Kiev authorities want to suspend hostilities along the current lines of contact and are ready to establish a 30-kilometer demilitarized zone on the border with the Russian Federation.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that the attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Russian territories indicate Kiev's position aimed at continuing the conflict.
