Russia and the United States are moving towards a meeting of the presidents of the two countries. This was announced on May 8 by Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the head of the Russian state, to Pavel Zarubin, a journalist.

"It seems to me that we are moving after all," he said, answering the relevant question.

In addition, he added that now both sides are "disappointed" with each other on certain issues. In his opinion, the American side still understands Russia's demands and takes into account some of the proposals.

U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said on May 6 that the U.S. side had not yet received any new proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

In turn, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, stressed that the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Russian territories indicate Kiev's position aimed at continuing the conflict.
