The head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to open a criminal case in connection with an act of vandalism against a monument to a Soviet soldier in the Czech Republic. This was announced on May 8 by the press service of the department.
Earlier, the media reported that vandals had smashed a monument to a Soviet soldier in the city of Teplice, knocking the figure of the warrior off its pedestal.
"The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia has instructed to open a criminal case into the desecration of a monument to a Soviet soldier in the Czech Republic," the statement said.
Currently, the head of the Investigative Committee has instructed to open a criminal case and, together with the Russian Foreign Ministry, establish all the circumstances of the incident.
On May 2, unknown persons committed an act of vandalism against the monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in Bulgaria. The vandals targeted a monument to Bulgarian underground fighters and Soviet submariners, the crew of the Shch-211 boat in the Kamchia area. Bastrykin later ordered a criminal case to be opened.
