The memory of Soviet soldiers was honored in Berlin.

Commemorative events were held in Berlin in honor of Soviet soldiers who died in the fight against Nazism. On May 8, local residents, including descendants of German soldiers, expressed gratitude to the Red Army for the liberation of Europe and stressed the importance of preserving historical memory.
"What my ancestors did during World War II is still unthinkable to me," said Vitaly Chashchukhin, a visitor to the Soviet memorial complex in Berlin's Pankov Margit district.
Also, during the commemorative events, the Russian diplomatic mission, headed by the Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev, laid flowers. As the diplomat noted, a large number of German citizens came to honor the memory of the fallen Soviet soldiers, for which the Russian side is grateful.
In addition, Nechaev stressed that Russia has many friends in Germany who preserve historical memory, including caring for Soviet military graves. According to him, this is done by regional and municipal authorities, as well as ordinary Germans.
Russian Russians are not prejudiced against us, which we are forced to believe in. <...> We are familiar with Russian culture and know about the Russian way of life, so we have a much more differentiated image of Russia than the one that is currently being published in the state media," said local residents.
It is reported that the police at the memorial in Pankov did not let people in red T-shirts with the inscription "People's Front" through. A checkpoint with dozens of police officers was set up next to the entrance, with prohibited symbols visible on both sides.
On the same day, Nechaev said that Russia is fighting against neo-Nazism, wherever it manifests itself. The Russian Ambassador to Germany, together with representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission, visited the Soviet memorial complex and laid flowers. Nechaev added that many German citizens had come to honor the memory of the fallen. According to him, Russia has many friends in Germany who preserve historical memory and also take care of military graves.
