The media reported on the tightening of English requirements for migrants in Britain

The UK government plans to introduce stricter requirements for migrants' knowledge of English in order to ensure their integration into society. The Daily Mail writes about this on May 8.
It is reported that at the moment, migrants must demonstrate only basic language proficiency, which is equivalent to a GCSE-level qualification (general certificate of secondary education), but the new proposals will raise the requirements to a much more advanced level, comparable to the B2 standard (threshold advanced level of English proficiency).
Migrants will also need to be able to compose clear, well-structured, detailed texts on complex topics.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will announce the failure of the points-based immigration system introduced by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson after Brexit and outline reforms aimed at reducing net migration and promoting economic growth.
On March 2, American leader Donald Trump signed a decree approving English as the official language in the United States. The relevant document was published on March 1 on the White House website. It is also specified that the recognition of English as the state language will promote the unity of citizens, strengthen common national values and guarantee the consistent work of the government.
