Reshetnikov noted the importance of the agreement on the protection of investments of the Russian Federation and China

Currently, the investment protection agreement between Moscow and Beijing is the most advanced and comprehensive. This was announced on May 8 by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov.

"This is the first time in practice that we have added such moments from our best international developments. We have not entered into force a number of multilateral agreements. And we have agreed with the Chinese side that we will take the best practices and implement them in this agreement. By and large, this is by far the most advanced and most comprehensive agreement," he told Izvestia correspondent Anton Zolotnitsky.

According to the head of the Ministry of Economic Development, this agreement is necessary for Russian business, since investments of Chinese companies in Russia have doubled since 2019. In addition, he also noted that many more projects are expected between the two countries.

On the same day, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said in an interview with Izvestia that technological and infrastructural areas are the highest priorities in Russia's relations with China. He also added that agreements have been signed in the field of technology with the Russian MGIMO Institute and one of China's leading universities, Tsinghua, which will promote joint start—ups.
