A piece of Eternal Flame from the Grave of the Unknown Soldier was handed over to representatives of Moldova on May 7. The transfer ceremony took place in the Alexander Garden in Moscow.

The ceremony was attended by Ilan Shor, leader of the Pobeda political bloc, Marina Tauber, Vasily Bolya, Regina Apostolova, Petr Jardan, Alexander Sukhodolsky, Denis Ulanov, Vadim Fotescu, and other representatives of the bloc.

"For me personally, this is important because my two grandfathers reached Berlin. My great-uncle was a war correspondent and died. My great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers died in concentration camps. Therefore, for me and for the vast majority of Moldovan citizens, May 9 is a great day," Shor stressed.

Marina Tauber, a member of the Moldovan parliament and executive secretary of the executive committee of the Victory bloc, said that the Victory bloc had prepared a number of commemorative events in the country's cities.

"We will march in a common column in Chisinau. There will be a lot of us. <...> We are proud of our history. No one can rewrite it. And we appreciate what Russia is doing for us. We know that our future must be shared, and the people of Moldova have always been in favor of close friendly relations," she said.

It is specified that a particle of the Eternal Flame was delivered to Chisinau, where the ceremony of lighting the lamps at the Eternity memorial complex will take place. The youth wing of the Pobeda bloc will take part in the event. The lamps will be handed over to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and also sent to different cities of Moldova, where commemorative events will take place: participants will light candles laid out in the shape of the number "80".

On May 7, volunteers of the Russian-speaking community "Russian Ottawa" in the capital of Canada held a Memorial Candle action, and also organized a Blue Handkerchief flash mob to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). In the hands of the participants of the flash mob were posters depicting cities that were awarded the title of "Hero Cities" after the end of the Second World War.
