As part of the negotiations on Ukraine, Russia's interests must be taken into account, and in order to resolve the conflict, it is necessary to resolve the root causes that caused it. This was announced on May 8 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.

This is how he commented on the words of US Vice President Jay Dee Vance that Russia wants too much in the negotiation process.

"We want our national interests to be respected. We want the original reasons for the special military operation to be resolved. It is important to take care of the original reasons for the special operation, because they are closely linked to our national interests," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.

He added that the dialogue between Russia and the United States continues, and Moscow has the opportunity to convey its position on Ukraine to Washington.

On May 6, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce noted that the United States had not yet received any new proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. Bruce said that negotiations are volatile at this stage. The representative of the State Department also stated that, despite the instability observed during the negotiation processes, work on the settlement is constantly continuing.

At the same time, Peskov stressed that the attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian territories indicate Kiev's position aimed at continuing the conflict. He recalled that the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin on a three-day truce for the holidays from midnight on May 8 to midnight on May 11 is relevant.
