India and Pakistan conducted a large-scale dogfight involving 125 fighter jets. This was reported on May 8 by CNN.

As specified in the article, on the night of May 7, the battle lasted more than an hour, neither side left its airspace. According to a source in the Pakistani security services, the exchange of missile strikes sometimes took place at a distance of more than 160 km.

The publication reports that five Indian planes were shot down, while India did not confirm the loss of aircraft.

"Neither side was ready to send their pilots across the border due to the much smaller dogfight in 2019. An Indian Air Force pilot was shot down in Pakistan and shown on TV before being returned to India," the article added.

The source clarified that the Indian Air Force sometimes had to re-attack targets. According to him, Pakistan has made every effort to prevent civilians in areas of possible strikes and has managed to minimize civilian casualties.

On May 7, the Indian Armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, during which they carried out nine attacks on Pakistan's terrorist infrastructure and occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In turn, Pakistan retaliated after the attacks from the Indian side.

Later, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry reported that the two nuclear-weapon states were approaching a major conflict amid the "reckless actions" of the Indian side.
