- Rantanen scored a hat trick and became the author of a unique achievement in the Stanley Cup.

Dallas Hockey Club forward Mikko Rantanen became the first player in 40 years in the National Hockey League (NHL) to score a hat‑trick in two playoff games in a row, Sport-Express reported on May 8.
The Finnish hockey player scored a hat-trick in the Stanley Cup second round match against Winnipeg (3-2). In the previous game, he also scored three goals against rivals Colorado (4-2) in the seventh game of the first round of the NHL playoffs.
Thus, Rantanen became the third player in Stanley Cup history to score three goals in two Stanley Cup matches in a row. Before him, only Doug Bentley in 1944 and Yari Kurri in 1985 were able to do this.
On April 6, Russian forward and captain of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season against the New York Islanders, breaking the record of four-time Stanley Cup winner Wayne Gretzky, who scored 894 goals. The former coach of the Russian national hockey team, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, said that he considers Ovechkin a great player.
