- The Russian military restored the memorial to the soldiers who fell in the Second World War in the DPR

Military personnel of the Vostok group of forces restored the memorial to soldiers who fell in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in one of the liberated settlements of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on May 8 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"We are restoring the monument erected on the mass grave of those who fell during the invasion of the German invaders," said a soldier of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with the call sign Bashkir.
According to him, cultural heritage should exist so that people remember what happened during the Great Patriotic War. He added that local people do not refuse the help of military personnel and, if possible, provide them with their support.
In addition, Russian military personnel have cleaned up the territory of the mass grave and plan to paint it.
The monument, erected in Soviet times, was damaged as a result of shelling by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Thanks to the Russian military, it was restored, the ministry noted.
On May 7, it was reported that in Lugansk, the signalmen of the Center group of forces congratulated veterans and residents of besieged Leningrad on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The servicemen presented flowers and memorable gifts. A special atmosphere was created by two guitarists who performed several military songs for the soldiers right at their home.
