"It is important that Russian-Chinese cooperation in the media sphere is developing very actively and successfully, and serves as an increasingly visible component of the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing," reads a statement posted on the Kremlin's website.

In addition, the head of state noted the huge role of the media in "protecting historical truth."

The President also stressed that during the forum, participants would exchange experiences, outline areas for mutually beneficial cooperation, including plans for the implementation of joint television projects and the holding of a Chinese film festival in Russia this year.
