The Russian Foreign Ministry stated the importance of monitoring a possible long-term truce in Ukraine.

The establishment of a 30-day truce in Ukraine is associated with a lot of nuances, and its observance will need to be effectively monitored. This was announced on May 7 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

She recalled that the line of military contact in the Ukrainian conflict stretched for 1,2 thousand km, and this is further than from Washington to Chicago. The organization of a ceasefire in such a territory implies many nuances that need to be worked out.

"It is important to ensure effective monitoring of compliance with the regime, to prevent this period from being used to increase the combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, forced mobilization and arms supplies," Zakharova said in a media commentary published on the ministry's website.
