- The first meeting of the conclave for the election of the Pope has started in the Vatican.

The first meeting of the conclave, which will elect a new pope, has started in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. The live broadcast on May 7 was posted on the Vatican news YouTube channel.
It is noted that 133 cardinals from different countries have begun the voting process for the new pontiff. At the same time, the conclave territory has no cellular connection, and outsiders will not be able to find out about what is happening in the chapel.
Journalist Anastasia Volosatova said that tourists and locals gathered outside the conclave building to find out the results of the vote. The first results may arrive within a day. In addition, if none of the candidates gets a majority of votes, black smoke will go up. However, if the pope is successfully elected, there will be white smoke from the chimney, and three days are allowed for the choice of the pontiff.
"Local journalists and Italians are saying that this year's election of the pope will take about three days, so we shouldn't expect white smoke to appear today, but still we are all waiting," she shared.
The journalist also said that media representatives were allowed to see what was happening from the roof of the colonnade of St. Peter's Cathedral.
On May 5, all 133 cardinals gathered in Rome to vote at the upcoming conclave. It was noted that they are holding the 10th General Congregation to prepare for the upcoming conclave.
Pope Francis died at the age of 89 on the morning of April 21 as a result of a cerebral stroke. He last appeared in public on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica during Easter celebrations on April 20. It was reported that the pontiff had been struggling with bilateral pneumonia for a long time.
