- The media again reported on the termination of the work of all political parties in Mali

The Government of Mali has decided to terminate the work of all political parties in the West African country in order to preserve public order. This was reported on May 7 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the state television of the African republic.
The decree was signed by Transitional President Assimi Goita and published a week after the Government of Mali officially repealed the law governing the activities of political parties. This decision marked the termination of their work.
In response to the actions of the military government, a coalition of dozens of parties was formed, which demanded the completion of the military-political transition period and a return to constitutional order.
The Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, May 7, that last Saturday the coalition called several hundred people to protest against the actions of the military government in the capital of Bamako.
"This is their way of preventing us from carrying out our activities, but we will continue to defend democracy in Mali," Cheika Oumar Doumbia, one of the leaders of the demonstration, was quoted as saying by the TV channel.
It is specified that the political parties will continue to fight the government's decision and on Friday, May 10, will hold a demonstration against it.
Earlier, on April 10, the military transitional Government of Mali had already announced the suspension of the activities of all parties. According to him, this step was necessary to maintain public order. The government's decision followed the demands of political forces to hold elections in the country.
In August 2020, former Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was removed from power, after which a group of military men under the command of Colonel Assimi Goita took over the interim leadership of the country. In May 2021, the Constitutional Court approved Goita as the head of state for a transitional period after the removal of the President of the Ba Ndao.
