Ukraine is being provided with money and weapons, and European taxpayers are paying the bills. Such actions are "shameful." This was stated on May 7 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, criticizing the statement of the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen because of her call to accelerate the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU).

"Today, von der Leyen announced new plans for the European Commission: Ukraine receives money and weapons, European taxpayers pay the bills. It's a shame," he wrote on the social network X.

On the same day, the head of the European Commission announced the need for substantive negotiations related to Ukraine's accession to the EU. She believes that this process can become a strong guarantee of security.

Earlier, on March 10, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the Hungarian government considers Ukraine's accession to the EU dangerous, but is ready to represent any position of its citizens on this issue in the international arena.
