- The sinologist pointed out the importance of reflecting the history of the Chinese Communist Party in the "Red Silk"

The joint Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" plays a special historical role for China, Sergei Sanakoev, Deputy chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society and a member of the Russian International Affairs Council, said on May 7.
The release of the film "Red Silk" in China will take place on a special date — the year of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of China from the Japanese militarists, the expert noted. He added that the leaders of Russia and China had previously discussed the anniversary and agreed on presidential visits.
"Chinese President [Xi] Jinping will be Russia's main guest on May 9 at Red Square, and on September 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin will be China's main guest at Tiananmen Square. Where, in fact, these events of victory over the Japanese invaders will be celebrated," Sanakoev said.
According to him, the screening of "Red Silk" at such a solemn moment will attract the attention of the Chinese audience, emphasize the importance of national history and common victories.
The Deputy Chairman of the ORKD stressed that "Red Silk" tells about the events of 1927, when the only congress of the Chinese Communist Party was held abroad — in the USSR. The plot of the film tells that the Kuomintang Party actively prevented the Chinese Communists from going to this congress.
The beginning of the screenings of the joint Russian-Chinese project in China is scheduled for September 2025. Krasny Silk was created with the participation of NMG Film Distribution, a member of the National Media Group (NMG).
Alexander Makushin, a historian and expert at the Russian Military Historical Society, told Izvestia on May 7 that the future screening of the Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" in China on the anniversary of the country's victory over militaristic Japan is a deeply symbolic sign. The two countries have many topics for joint creative projects: the help of the Chinese during the Great Patriotic War, as well as their participation in the revolutionary events in Russia.
Earlier that day, "Red Silk" became the first modern Russian painting to receive the "dragon Seal" for unlimited distribution in China. At the same time, Sinologist Sergey Mstislavsky noted that there is a lot of interest in the historical period reflected in the film in China, which ensures high box office receipts.
