During the upcoming holidays and weekends (May 8-11) The State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will work in an enhanced mode and carry out preventive measures on the roads of the Ivanovo, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Magadan, Chelyabinsk, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Kirov regions, as well as in Sevastopol, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Karelia, Primorsky Krai and other regions of the country.

On the eve of the holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. "Continuous" checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out on weekends by traffic inspectors on an ongoing basis, the department emphasizes.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol is unacceptable and endangers the lives of not only the driver himself, who got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol, but also his passengers, as well as other road users. Do not remain indifferent when you see that a drunk person gets behind the wheel of a car or motorcycle, behaves inappropriately, creates dangerous situations on the road — report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts.

In the upcoming holidays, events related to the celebration of Victory Day will be held in all regions of the country. In this regard, temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced on the roads. The State Traffic Inspectorate asks drivers to strictly comply with the requirements of temporary road signs and signs, as well as strictly follow the instructions of police officers.

On May 6, it was reported that traffic cameras in Moscow had become less likely to record traffic violations related to driving into designated lanes, lack of seat belts and lights off. In the first four months of 2025, cameras recorded more than 10.1 million violations, which is only 1% more than in the same period last year.
