- The Russian Embassy in Germany has condemned the ban on Russian symbols related to Victory Day.

The ban on the demonstration in Berlin of Russian symbols associated with Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) is a manifestation of historical revisionism and political conjuncture. This was announced on May 7 on the website of the Russian Embassy in Germany.
They noted that the restrictions deprive caring residents of the German capital of the right to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory and honor the memory of the fallen.
"We are considering them (prohibitions. — Ed.) as unjustified, discriminatory, degrading to human dignity. We see in them a clear manifestation of historical revisionism and political conjuncture," the Russian embassy said in a statement.
It clarifies that the diplomatic mission condemns any attempts to prevent the population from honoring the memory and paying tribute to the dead. The Russian Embassy in Germany also demanded the cancellation of the relevant decision of the Berlin authorities.
On April 25, it was reported that the Berlin authorities plan to ban the use of symbols of Russia and the USSR at commemorative events on May 8 and 9, dedicated to Victory Day. According to the decree, the ban will affect Russian, Soviet, and Belarusian flags, the wearing of military uniforms or its elements, military insignia, the display of the letters Z and V, and St. George's ribbons.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 30 that Germany's ban was a road to the abyss. She noted that Germany should turn to the lessons of all the wars it has unleashed and teach this to the younger generation.
