Peskov called the G20 format more attractive for Russia

The G20 format is more attractive for Russia than the Group of Eight (G8). This was announced to reporters on May 7 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"We are no longer interested in this format (G8 — Ed.). Because we don't consider it relevant anymore in terms of claiming some kind of leadership role. <...> In this regard, the G20 format is more attractive to us," he said.
