Russians began to purchase more patriotic paraphernalia


On the eve of Victory Day, analysts at martech company First Data analyzed the demand for goods with patriotic attributes and found that this year Russians purchased 42% more goods online than in the same period last year. Izvestia got acquainted with the results of the study on May 8.
In 2025, between April 1 and May 2, Russians spent 246 million rubles online on various goods by May 9. For comparison, last year this amount was 122 million rubles.
The number of purchases of military suits increased the most. Russians purchased 36,000 suits, which is 104% more than last year. Flags came in second place: buyers purchased 253,000 flags, 73% more than a year earlier. Sales of St. George's ribbons increased by 68%: 119 thousand were bought this year. Soldiers' caps were also in demand: a total of 84,000 were purchased, which is 49% more than in 2024.
However, in some categories, analysts also found a decline in demand. Thus, the number of purchases of artificial carnations decreased by 36%. In 2025, 33 thousand flowers were purchased, and in 2024 - 21 thousand.
In addition, analysts noted an increase in the average cost for all categories of goods online. The average cost of costumes increased by 27% to 2,057 rubles, flags increased by 30% to 322 rubles, St. George's ribbons by 38% to 263 rubles, and artificial carnations by 41% to 466 rubles.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that 86% of Russians surveyed consider Victory Day to be the most important holiday in the country. At the same time, 85% of respondents have a general understanding of the history of the war and want to learn more, while 74% prefer to learn about the war from Soviet film classics. This is stated in the results of a survey conducted by MTS Media Holding.
